So your babe’s dairy milk-drunk, having successfully scoured the garden (great British weather permitting) for ALL the eggs, but what’s next?

Here are 7 egg-cellent ideas for you and your little bunnies to try over the long bank holiday weekend…

1. Take A Nature Walk

Shake off the sugar rush with an Easter nature walk. Play “I spy” for signs of Spring on your stroll, like blooming flowers and chirping birds. Extra points if they can name the flowers along the way! You can even collect some natural materials like leaves and flowers to make an Easter themed collage.

2. Get Crafty

For tiny hands, a bunny tails sensory bag can be a fun and engaging way to introduce babies to their first Easter, using readily available items from around the home.

  1. You will need a small clear freezer bag, a bag of cotton balls (or white pompoms), a black marker, and some ribbon or string to tie the bag shut.

  2. Using the black marker, draw a bunny face on the outside of the plastic bag. Then, fill the bag with cotton balls or white pompoms, a la bunny tails!

  3. Encourage your baby to explore the bag by touching and squishing the cotton balls. You can also talk to them about the texture and the colour of the bunny tails, and make different sounds by crinkling the bag.

  4. You could add other Easter-themed items to the sensory bag such as decorative eggs or small soft toys in the shape of little lambs or chicks to make it more festive.

For a creative craft that toddlers will love, try making some egg carton chicks.

  1. Cut apart an egg carton and let your toddler paint or colour each individual egg cup yellow.

  2. Once the paint is dry, your toddler can glue on googly eyes, a small orange beak cut from construction paper, and yellow feathers for wings.

3. Bake It An Easter To Remember!

Get your mini chefs involved in the kitchen and use some of those Easter eggs for baking! For a delicious upgrade on a classic, give this recipe for Mini Egg Nests a go! Pack them up for the perfect picnic treat, and don’t forget to invite your little one’s new Easter bestie Rabbit Robin!

4. Give Back

Teach your little ones about the spirit of giving by participating in an Easter charity. Encourage them to choose toys they no longer play with and donate them as part of an Easter basket to a local children's hospital or charity. It's a great way to spread the love and teach toddlers the importance of helping others.

5. Story Time & Snuggles

Take a break from all the activity and snuggle up for some story time. There are plenty of great Easter-themed books for babies and toddlers, like “Easter Sounds” by Usborne and “Five Little Easter Bunnies” by Martha Mumford.

6. Pin The Tail On The Bunny

Get your older toddlers moving with an egg-citing (okay, last pun I promise!) game of pin the tail on the bunny.

  1. Download the free printable below.

  2. Get the crayons out and colour in the bunny, not forgetting the Easter egg! Will they choose circles, zig zags, or make their own colourful creation?

  3. Hang their picture up on a wall at a height that is easily reachable for your child.

  4. Grab a cotton ball and attach a piece of double-sided tape to the back, or fold a piece of regular sellotape back on itself.

  5. Blindfold your child with a scarf or a sleep mask, and spin them around a few times to disorient them. Give them the tail and point them in the direction of the bunny.

  6. Giving verbal cues, help guide your child to try to pin the tail as close to the correct spot as possible, using words such as  "higher" or "lower."

  7. Once your child has placed the tail, remove their blindfold and see how close they were to the correct spot, then keep playing until everyone has had a turn.

Remember, the game is all about having a good time, so don't worry too much about accuracy! Make sure to supervise young children during the game to ensure their safety.

7. Easter Movie

Wind down after a long day with an Easter movie. "Hop" is a great choice for toddlers, and for babies, try an animated seasonal special like "Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo." This movie features everyone's favourite bear and his friends as they prepare for Easter in the Hundred Acre Wood. Roo is excited about Easter but when Rabbit decides to cancel the holiday festivities, it's up to Roo and his friends to save the day!

Easter is a wonderful time for family fun and togetherness, especially with little ones around, and with these Spring inspired activities there’s something for every bunny to enjoy! Wishing you and your family a hoppy Easter!
