DIY Name Blocks Tutorial

Now let’s create your own adorable baby name blocks!

🕒 This project can take about 30-90 minutes from start to finish, depending on the length of your child’s name.

Inside the kit, you'll find:
✨ Smooth, pre-cut wooden blocks
✨ 4 paints in your chosen curated colour palette
✨ 1 paintbrush and vinyl letters
✨ Easy peasy instructions

While everything you need is included in the kit, a couple of extra tools can help you get the most polished finish possible:

✨ Pointed tweezers — super handy for placing vinyl letters neatly. I also use the ‘weeding’ tool (one with the pink tip) in this kit to help me remove the vinyls neatly, though tweezers will also work!
✨ Sandpaper — gives your blocks an extra-smooth base in-between coats of paint.

Let’s Fix That!

Even the best DIY moments can get a bit wobbly — but don’t worry, I’ve got you.
Here are some quick tips for smoothing out any little hiccups…

  • Most colours will need just two coats, but if yours is looking a little patchy, don’t worry, some shades look best with three. Give it another layer and you’ll be good to go!

  • Pressing the vinyl down firmly before painting helps prevent any sneaky paint bleed. But if a little does slip through, don’t worry, you can gently scrape it off the wood using your ‘weeding’ tool. Easy fix!

  • I’d recommend 15–20 minutes between coats - longer if the room is cool or humid.

  • Yes! The blocks are made from natural rubber wood, so wood grain is completely normal and part of their charm.
